Mrs J needed a little bit of confidence boost after a few stressful months so we obliged! Irene pampered her with hair and makeup as she always does. Jessica and I decided on the wardrobe for the shoot, which was a combination of black lingerie (I usually like to start with a bodysuit!) followed by pink and colorful choices! She had about 5 lingerie sets and we ended up doing the white sheets and some body jewelry shots that she absolutely loved. In December 2021 a beloved mutual friend, Mrs L. arranged for Mrs S to have a boudoir session at our studio in Half Moon Bay. She gifted her a boudoir session! Yes, that is absolutely possible! Mrs L. an some friends bought a Gift Certificate for Mrs S on her birthday. I heard she was a little shocked in a good way!
I prepared Mrs S as I usually prepare every client: I send out a few questions to get to know her, then a link to a private Pinterest board where she can share what she loves and the outfits she will bring, then oodles of information about what wardrobe she should consider, where to get them, and generally how to prepare for her day. It can be a little overwhelming but I want my ladies to know they are well taken care of!

I Am Too Shy To Have A Boudoir Session!
Shyness is like being frozen in terror at night when you hear a creak and imagine it might be a bogeyman or a bloodthirsty intruder. Even if your fears are correct and there really is a burglar in the house, hiding your head under the pillow won't save you. Far better would be to grab the nearest weapon - a full chamber pot will do at a pinch - and race towards the perceived threat yelling at the top of your lungs. He or she is not going to penetrate your mind and read your thoughts if you make yourself invisible. Far better, is to gaze into their eyes and flirt shamelessly.

A Sassy Firefighter’s Boudoir Session
Mayra was in Puerto Rico on a break frmoo her duties when she initially called to inquire back in late 2020. She is a firefighter, fighting the fires we are sadly so used to nowadays in California. She told me she wanted to get away from her tomboyish activities and enjoy a day of pampering and exploring her feminine side. In her words: I want to do more girly things! Who could blame her? I could only thank her for her service and was so happy she stepped in her feminine power and wanted me to photograph her. Many months later, due to reschedules because, you know.. fires, real fires -she has been so busy, fighting fires from a helicopter in Tahoe in 2021, it’s been difficult to get her in the studio! - she was ready.
This girl was giggling the whole time! Mayra’s boudoir session was powerful and memorable. I took her through many sexy and powerful poses and she killed it! She is beautiful, feminine, sexy! Enough said, the pictures speak for themselves!

My Husband Is Too Mean
Never fall for this one:
Wife: I am considering a boudoir session.
Husband: Why spend all that money? Let's buy a camera and I'll take pictures of you. It will be so much cheaper.
Wife: OK
So, after a few weeks of research, a top of the range Nikon appears at the door and is promptly moved to the 'man cave'. The husband disappears too ... for a very long time. When he does show himself, he looks a bit haggard and is muttering weird technical things like "depth of field" and "bloody ISO". More boxes arrive containing costly lenses, which the husband explains are essential for his 'craft'.
Finally, the day comes. The kids are sent to see a movie and a far too confident husband appears wielding his new toy. "Do something," he instructs his wife. They look at each other thoughtfully and he suggests that she stands on one leg while displaying her 'sexy bits'. The session has begun.
An hour or so later, husband and wife review the images. Things are not good.
"Should my hands and ears look quite so big and shouldn't my nose be in focus? And why is this one so blurry? And these look kind of blueish. And, I know I am bit curvy, but .. OH MY GOD". Shouts and tears ensue. The wife retreats to the bathroom and the husband returns to the den furiously clutching a beer.
Time passes. the camera is traded in for a session ticket for the Giants and the wife is sadly looking at the credit card statement. It could have been so much better.
